How to Disconnect an AI Assistant from ABM Service

You can disconnect any AI assistant you have connected to ABM Service, such as ChatGPT or Claude, from the Your account page: open the menu, select Your account under your name, and select Disconnect beside the assistant under Connected assistants. Disconnecting stops the assistant reaching ABM Service straight away, and you can connect it again whenever you like.

How do I disconnect an AI assistant from ABM Service?

Open the menu, select Your account on the row under your name, and under Connected assistants select Disconnect beside the assistant, then Disconnect again to confirm. The assistant's line disappears, and from that moment it can no longer reach ABM Service.

  1. Open the menu in ABM Service in a web browser: Menu on the Home screen, or Navigation menu at the top of the filter rail on the Calls, Customers and Scheduler screens.
  2. Select Your account under your name at the bottom of the menu.
  3. Find the assistant under Connected assistants on the Your account page. Each line shows the assistant's name and its website, such as Claude · claude.ai, with what it may do and when it was connected and last used.
  4. Select Disconnect at the end of the assistant's line. The line now asks again, with Disconnect and Keep it.
  5. Select Disconnect to end the connection, or Keep it to leave it as it was. The button reads Disconnecting… while ABM Service ends it.

When the last assistant has gone and your company still allows assistants, Connected assistants says None. and shows the address you would add to connect one again.

Disconnecting one assistant leaves your other connected assistants as they are; each has its own line and its own Disconnect. Two lines with the same assistant's name are two separate connections; the website after the name, or 127.0.0.1 or localhost for a program on your computer, tells them apart.

If disconnecting fails, for example because the network dropped, Connected assistants shows the reason instead of the list. Reload the Your account page and check whether the line is still there; if it is, select Disconnect again.

What happens when I disconnect an AI assistant?

Disconnecting stops the assistant at once: its next request to ABM Service is refused, and it can no longer read or change anything in ABM Service as you. The page says so under the list: Disconnecting stops it at once. To connect again, start from the assistant.

Disconnecting does not undo anything the assistant has already done. Calls it logged, changes it made to calls, engineers it scheduled and files it attached all stay in ABM Service, in your name, as they were. Change or cancel them on the call screen like any other work if you need to.

Disconnecting does not sign you out of ABM Service, and does not change your authenticator app.

To use the assistant with ABM Service again, start from the assistant itself: it opens ABM Service's sign-in and the Connect an assistant page, and you select Allow again. You can choose differently this time, for example clearing Make changes in ABM so that it reads only.

Note: Removing ABM Service from your assistant's own settings does not disconnect it in ABM Service, which is not told. Select Disconnect on the Your account page as well, so the connection really ends.

Who else can disconnect my AI assistant?

Only you can disconnect your assistant from the Your account page, and you can only disconnect your own: colleagues' connections are never shown to you, and yours are never shown to them.

Your system administrator can also end connections:

  • they can disconnect yours, or everybody's at once;
  • switching assistants off for the company disconnects everybody;
  • changing the address assistants use disconnects everybody, because every connection was made to the old address.

A connection also ends by itself when it has not been used for ninety days, although its line can stay under Connected assistants, with a used date more than ninety days ago, until you select Disconnect on it. It ends within the hour when your user is removed from ABM's user list.

When your connection has been ended by any of these, your assistant can no longer reach ABM Service. If your company still allows assistants, connect it again from the assistant. If assistants have been switched off, Your account no longer lists Connected assistants, and only your system administrator can switch them back on.

Why can't I find Disconnect for my AI assistant?

Disconnect is on the Your account page, under Connected assistants, which you reach from Your account in the menu in a web browser. If you cannot find it, one of these is the reason:

  • You are in the ABM Service desktop app. The desktop app has no Your account. Open your company's ABM Service address in a web browser, sign in, and use the menu there.
  • Your account is not in the menu. It only appears when you signed in in a browser and your company uses authenticator apps or allows AI assistants, after your name has appeared at the bottom of the menu.
  • Connected assistants is not on the page. Your company does not allow assistants at the moment and you have none connected. Switching assistants off disconnects everybody, so there is nothing to disconnect.
  • The assistant is not in the list. It is already disconnected, or it was connected while you were signed in as somebody else, or at another company's ABM Service address. Each company's Your account page lists only that company's connections, and only yours.

If an assistant you did not connect appears in your list, select Disconnect straight away and tell your system administrator.
