Reading Today on the Board
Today on the board is the large panel on the Home screen that shows every engineer visit due today, one line per engineer, laid out across the working day. It answers "who is where today" at a glance. Open Home from the menu; the panel sits under Calls by status, and Open the Scheduler → in its corner takes you to the full Scheduler board.
What does Today on the board show on the Home screen?
Today on the board on the Home screen shows each engineer who has a visit due today on a line of their own, with their visits drawn as blocks along a timeline from 07 to 19 (seven in the morning to seven in the evening). Beside the heading you will see how many visits there are today and how many engineers they belong to, for example "12 visits · 5 engineers".
Each line starts with the engineer's picture or initials and their name, and the lines are in order of engineer name. Each block is one visit:
- Where it starts and how long it is — the block begins at the visit's due time and is as wide as the time booked for it.
- What it says — the customer's name (or, if the call has no customer name, its customer code or call number).
- Its colour — the group its action status falls in (Open, Active, Completed or Cancelled), in the same action colours as the Actions by status panel.
The panel's list scrolls on its own when there are more engineers than fit.
How do I see the details of a visit on Today on the board?
To see the details of a visit on the Home screen's Today on the board panel, hover the pointer over its block. A tooltip shows the customer's name, the start and end time (for example "09:00–10:30") and the visit's action status, such as On Site or Finished.
The blocks are for reading only: clicking one does not open the call in this version. To open the call, find it in the Calls list, or select Open the Scheduler → at the top right of the panel and work with the visit on the Scheduler.
What is the thin mark and the vertical line on Today on the board?
On the Home screen's Today on the board panel, a thin mark instead of a block is a visit booked with no duration, and the vertical line running down all the lanes marks the time now.
- A visit with no duration is drawn as a narrow marker at its start time rather than as a block, because no length was recorded for it. Hover over it and the tooltip says the start time followed by "no duration".
- The time-now line shows which visits are past, under way and still to come. It is drawn at the time the Home screen was opened and does not move by itself; open Home again to bring it up to the current time. Before 07:00 it sits at the left edge of the timeline, and after 19:00 at the right edge.
A visit that starts before 07:00 or ends after 19:00 is drawn up against the edge of the timeline, but its tooltip still gives the real times.
Which engineers appear on Today on the board?
Every engineer with at least one visit due today appears on the Home screen's Today on the board, and nobody else does. An engineer with no visits today has no line. If nobody has a visit today, the panel says "Nobody is on the board today."
The list comes from your company's engineer list, so it can include subcontractors and other names your company keeps there, not only your own field engineers. Work given to an ABM user in the office rather than to an engineer is not shown.
The Call types counting rule applies here too: if you have narrowed Call types on the Home screen, only visits on calls of the ticked types are drawn. The other counting rules do not change the board.
Why doesn't Today on the board change when I pick a different period?
Today on the board on the Home screen always shows today, whatever period the pills are set to. Choosing This month, or stepping back to last year with The period before, changes the panels that count, but the board stays on today's visits, because it is there to show the day in front of you.
To look at another day's visits, select Open the Scheduler → in the corner of the panel, or Scheduler at the top of the Home screen, and move the Scheduler to that day.
