Using the Customers Without a Location Page
The Customers without a location page lists the customers nobody has put on the map yet, with a Set location button on every row so you can place them one after another. Open it with the Customers with no location button on the toolbar of the Customers list, or with Set their locations on the map's warning banner on the Calls or Scheduler screen. A customer with no location cannot be drawn on the map, so the maps on the Calls and Scheduler screens leave it out until it is placed.
What is the Customers without a location page for?
The Customers without a location page is a to-do list of active customers that have no map pin, and each row has a Set location button to fix it. It exists because a customer without a location is invisible on the map beside the Calls list and on the Scheduler, so it cannot be seen when planning which engineer goes where.
The page shows four columns about each customer, and a fifth holding a button:
- Code and Name — both open the customer's own screen. Hover over either for an open-in-new-tab link.
- Address — the mailing address, as it prints.
- Eircode — the customer's Eircode, when one is recorded.
The last column, Set location, holds the button that opens the Set location dialog for that customer. When a customer is placed, its row leaves the page and the count at the top goes down by one.
The line beside the heading says how many customers are listed, for example "12 customers with no location". It reads Counting… while the page is loading. Customers are listed by name, 25 to a page. When there is more than one page, use Previous and Next at the foot of the page to move between pages, and the line between them says, for example, "Page 1 of 3".
How do I open the Customers without a location page?
Select Customers with no location on the toolbar of the Customers list; the number in brackets on the button is how many active customers have no location. Hover over the button and its tooltip reads "The active customers nobody has put on the map".
- Open Customers from the navigation menu.
- Select Customers with no location on the toolbar, beside New Customer.
- Work down the list, selecting Set location on each row.
- Select the Back arrow at the top of the page to return to the Customers list as you left it.
You can also arrive from the map on the Calls or Scheduler screen. When customers in the map's window have no location, a banner on the map says how many, and its Set their locations button opens this page showing just those customers.
Why is there no Customers with no location button on the Customers list?
The Customers with no location button appears on the Customers list only when there is at least one active customer to place. If every active customer is on the map, the button is not drawn at all, rather than showing a count of nothing.
The button is also left off if ABM Service could not work out the count, because an unknown number is not the same as none left to do. The count is worked out when the Customers list opens, and Refresh does not count again; after placing customers, the number on the button is up to date the next time you open or return to the Customers list.
How do I search the Customers without a location page?
Type part of a code, name, address or Eircode into the search box at the top of the Customers without a location page (it reads Search by code, name, address or Eircode), then select Search or press Enter. The list narrows to the customers that contain what you typed in any of those four columns, and the count changes to match.
- Type part of the customer's code, name, address or Eircode in the search box.
- Select Search, or press Enter.
- Select Clear, beside Search, to go back to the whole list.
Unlike the search on the Customers list, this box does not drop down a list of matches as you type; it searches when you ask it to. If nothing matches, the page says No customer without a location matches that search.
What does "from the Calls list's window" mean on the Customers without a location page?
It means the Customers without a location page was opened from the map's banner and is showing only the customers the map on that screen could not draw. The line at the top then reads, for example, "3 customers from the Calls list's window with no location" or "from the Scheduler's window", and a Show all button appears beside it.
Select Show all to widen the page to every active customer with no location. Reloading the page keeps the shorter list, because you are still on the page you were sent to.
A list opened from the banner includes the customers with work in that window whatever their status, because a visit booked at a prospect or a closed account still needs a place on the map. The whole list, reached from the Customers list or with Show all, contains active accounts only. When the banner's window has more than 200 customers without a location, Set their locations opens the whole list instead.
Which customers count as having no location?
A customer counts as having no location when it has no saved map position, or when the position stored for it cannot be read as a place on the map (for example a latitude or longitude that is blank, is not a number, or is further than 180 degrees from zero). Those customers are listed so that a mistyped position can be corrected, not just counted.
When everything has been placed, the page says so in words:
- Every active customer is on the map. — the whole list is done.
- Every customer from that window is on the map now. — the customers from the map's banner are done; select Show all for the rest.
If the page cannot read the list, it says The customers could not be read. The list may be out of date. Reload the page to try again.
