Using the Scheduled Visits Card

The Scheduled visits card on the call screen lists every engineer's visit booked on the call, in the order they are due. It sits on the call's Details form, and besides being a list it is a second way into the Schedule engineer dialog: Add engineer books another visit, and each row opens its visit to change it.

What is the Scheduled visits card on the call screen?

The Scheduled visits card is the list of engineers booked on the call, one row per visit, on the Details form of the call screen. Its heading shows how many visits there are, and Add engineer at its top right books another one.

The card lists engineers' visits only. Phone calls, notes, e-mails, quotes and the automatic entries ABM Service writes when a call changes are left out; to see those as well, open Actions in the call screen's sections rail.

On a saved call the rows are in the order the visits are due, earliest first, which is the same order as the engineer pill at the top of the screen and its On this call menu, so the three agree on who is first. On a new call the pending rows stay in the order you added them, while the pill and its menu still put the earliest due first, so the card's first row is not always the earliest visit. On a saved call with no engineer yet, the card says No engineer scheduled yet.

The card and the engineer pill at the top of the screen are two views of the same visits. The pill is always there, however the form is arranged; the card is handy when you want to see every visit at once.

What does each row in the Scheduled visits card show?

Each row of the Scheduled visits card shows one engineer's visit: their picture or initials, their name, Due followed by the date and time the visit is due, the visit's one-line description when it has one, and a chip with the visit's action status on the right.

  • The action status is where the visit has got to, such as Open, Active, Travelling, On Site or Finished, in the colour your screens use for it.
  • A padlock beside the status means the visit is Closed, Matched, Cancelled, Send Error or Finished, and can no longer be moved or given to someone else.
  • will update appears on every row while the update switch on the card is on after you have changed the call's comment or details, meaning this save will give the visit the call's new words.

Hover over a row to see Change this visit, or, on a locked one, the status followed by — this visit can no longer be changed. A visit with no due date is listed but cannot be opened, because there is no time for the dialog to start from.

How do I book or change a visit from the Scheduled visits card?

Press Add engineer in the Scheduled visits card to book another engineer, or press a visit's row to change it. Either way the Schedule engineer dialog opens at the top of the call screen, hanging from the engineer pill, exactly as if you had used the pill.

  1. Press Add engineer in the card's heading to open Engineer for this call (or Another engineer for this call when someone is already booked).
  2. Choose the engineer and the time, and press Done. The new visit appears in the card.

To change a visit, press its row: the Change this visit dialog opens on that visit, and Done moves it to the new time or engineer. A padlocked row does not open; it shows a note under the row instead, saying This visit is followed by its status and that it cannot be moved or given to somebody else, and suggesting you book another engineer instead.

On a saved call, both actions book or move the visit the moment you press Done, saving the call first if it has unsaved changes.

A row cannot be deleted from the Scheduled visits card, and a visit's status, such as Finished, cannot be set from it: in ABM Service a booked visit stays on the call. You can change its time and engineer, and give it the call's new comment and details with the update switch, but not its status. To finish the job, change the call's own Status and save the call.

What does the Scheduled visits card show on a new call?

On the New call screen, the Scheduled visits card appears as soon as you open Schedule engineer, because opening the dialog adds an engineer to the new call straight away. Its heading counts them as pending, for example 1 pending, and each row carries Pending · on save, because nothing is written until you press Save call.

The pending rows are listed in the order you added the engineers, not by when they are due. Each pending row shows the engineer, Due with the date and time, the length in hours and minutes, and any notes you typed. A row reading Engineer… is one where nobody has been chosen yet: Save call refuses with Pick the engineer to schedule. until you choose someone or take the row off. Press a row to change the engineer or the time, or to take them off with Don't schedule. Press Add engineer to add another engineer to the new call.

The pending engineers are what makes a new call count as unsaved work: if you try to leave the screen, ABM Service warns you, just as it does for typing. When you press Save call, the call and all its visits are created together, and the card then lists them as ordinary booked visits.

Why can't I see the Scheduled visits card on the call screen?

The Scheduled visits card is part of the call screen's arranged layout, so it can be moved or taken off the Details form with Customize this layout…, in the small menu beside Details in the sections rail. If you cannot see it, your layout, or one your company uses, has it hidden. On a new call it is also hidden until you first open Schedule engineer.

You can still schedule engineers without it: Schedule engineer, the engineer pill and its Schedule another engineer plus button are at the top of the call screen on every layout.

Note: The switch that offers to update the scheduled visits lives on this card. With the card off your layout, a save never copies the call's comment and details onto the engineers' visits, because the offer is not on your screen to accept or decline.
