What Does the Call Logged Bar Mean?
After you log a call by voice with Fiona from the customer screen, ABM Service checks what was saved and tells you in a bar at the bottom centre of the window. The bar says whether the call was logged, gives you one button to act on it, and stays until you use that button or dismiss it, even if you move to another screen.
What does "Call … logged by Fiona" at the bottom of the screen mean?
A bar reading "Call", a call number and "logged by Fiona" means Fiona's call was saved in ABM under that number. Select Open call in the bar to open the new call on the call screen; the bar goes once you have opened it.
Under the call number the bar shows the call's type and its comment, for example a type name, a dot, and Fiona's one-line summary of the job. That is read from the call ABM Service saved, not from what Fiona said, so it is what you will find when you open the call.
- Open call opens the call on the call screen. Back then brings you to the screen you were on, as you left it: the same page of a list, the same row marked, the same section of a customer.
- Open call holding Ctrl (or pressing it with the middle mouse button) opens the call in a new browser tab instead, and leaves the bar where it is.
- Dismiss, the small cross at the end of the bar, removes the bar without opening the call. The call stays logged.
Sometimes the bar reads "Call", the number and "logged by Fiona" with no type line under it and no Open call. Fiona did log the call, but ABM Service could not look it up at that moment, so it can tell you the number and nothing more. Open the customer and select Calls on the customer screen's sections sidebar to find the call by its number.
Fiona's name is on the bar because she wrote the call. On the call itself you are the person who logged it: the header of the call screen names you, and so does the Entered by column if you have added it to the Calls list.
What does "Fiona couldn't log that call" mean?
A bar reading "Fiona couldn't log that call", with "Nothing was saved. Try again, or type it in." under it, means the voice call ended without a call being saved in ABM. Nothing was created for the customer, so there is nothing to undo; the job still needs logging.
Select Log a call in the bar to type the call in yourself. It opens the new call screen for the customer you opened Fiona from, with their name, code and address already on the call, exactly as Log a call in the header of the customer screen does. Fill in the contact, type and comment, then save the call there. The bar goes as soon as you select Log a call.
Or try again by voice: select Log by voice in the header of the customer screen and tell Fiona about the job again.
The bar does not say why the call could not be saved. Pointing at the bar's words may show a short technical reason as a tooltip, which is meant for whoever supports you rather than for you. If the same thing keeps happening, type the call in with Log a call and tell your system administrator what you were trying to log, and what the tooltip said.
What does "Fiona couldn't confirm the call was saved" mean?
A bar reading "Fiona couldn't confirm the call was saved" means the voice call ended but ABM Service cannot yet tell whether the call reached ABM: it may have been saved, or it may not. Under it the bar names the customer: "Check", then the customer's name and "calls before logging it again." Its button is Check calls.
Select Check calls to see the customer's calls. If you are on that customer's screen already, it switches to the Calls section in place; from anywhere else it opens the customer screen on its Calls section, and Back brings you to where you were. Look for the call near the top of the list before you log anything.
This bar deliberately has no Log a call button. The call may well exist, and logging it again would leave the customer with two calls for one job. Only log it again once you have checked it is not there.
ABM Service does not give up straight away. For about a minute after the bar appears it keeps checking every few seconds, and if the call turns up, the same bar changes into "Call", the number, "logged by Fiona", with Open call. Selecting Check calls or dismissing the bar stops the checking.
Why did no bar appear after my voice call?
The usual reason no bar appears is that the conversation with Fiona ended before she had logged anything: you hung up, or closed the voice panel, before the call was saved. In that case ABM Service still checks whether a call was saved for the customer, and when none was it shows nothing, because there is nothing to report. If it finds a call after all, you get the normal "logged by Fiona" bar.
Other reasons:
- You are in another tab or window. The bar appears only in the tab, or ABM Service desktop app window, that you opened Fiona from.
- The page was reloaded or closed. A reload, closing the tab, or signing out removes every bar, including one still on its way. The call, if Fiona logged it, is still in the customer's Calls section.
- It is still on its way. With Call me back the result can arrive a few seconds after the voice panel has closed, and every bar waits until ABM Service has checked the call before it is shown, so that it never names the wrong call.
- You already dismissed or opened it. A bar you have dismissed, or whose button you have used, never comes back, and the same call is never announced twice.
If you think a call was logged and no bar came, open the customer and select Calls on the customer screen's sections sidebar: calls you log by voice are there like any other.
Does the call logged bar follow me to other screens?
Yes. The bar belongs to the whole window, not to the customer screen, so it stays at the bottom centre of every screen you move to in the same tab or window: Home, the Calls list, a call, the Customers list, another customer, the Scheduler. You can log a call by voice, go back to what you were doing, and open the new call from the bar when you are ready.
The bar rises out of the way of anything else at the bottom of the screen, so the two never overlap: the save bar of the customer screen or the call screen when you have unsaved changes, the Scheduler's Undo after you move an appointment, and the small messages the Calls list and the customer screen show there. When that goes, the bar settles back down.
Its buttons leave through the screen you are on, so Back returns to that screen as you left it. For example, open a call from the bar while you are on page 2 of the Calls list with a row marked, then select Back: you are on page 2 again with the same row marked.
Up to three bars can be on screen at once, stacked upwards with the newest on top. When a fourth arrives, the oldest is removed. Each bar stays until you use its button or select Dismiss, the cross at its end; there is no time limit. A screen reader announces each bar as it arrives, without moving your focus.
