How to Sign Out of the Customer Portal

You sign out of the Customer portal with the Sign out button beside your name at the bottom of the menu. Signing out ends your sign-in on that browser and takes you back to the page headed Sign in to see your calls, so the next person to use the computer cannot see your account.

How do I sign out of the Customer portal?

Select Sign out beside your name at the bottom of the Customer portal menu. The portal ends your sign-in and shows the sign-in page again.

  1. Find your name at the bottom of the Customer portal menu, down the left of the page.
  2. Select Sign out beside it. The button shows a small arrow symbol rather than the words; point at it with the mouse and Sign out appears.
  3. Check that you are back on the page headed Sign in to see your calls.

To use the portal again, sign in with your email address and password.

Why should I sign out of the Customer portal on a shared computer?

The Customer portal keeps you signed in on a browser until you sign out, for up to thirty days without use, and closing the browser or the tab does not sign you out. On a computer other people use, such as a reception desk or a site office, always select Sign out when you have finished, or the next person to open the portal in that browser sees your account.

On your own computer or phone you can stay signed in, so the portal opens straight on your account each time.

Signing out ends your Customer portal sign-in only in the browser you are using. Any other browser, computer or phone where you signed in stays signed in. The portal has no list of the places where you are signed in and no "sign out everywhere" button. If you cannot get to one of them, for example a computer you no longer use, ask your service provider to set a new password for you: that signs you out everywhere at once.

What does "Signing out did not reach the server" mean in the Customer portal?

The message Signing out did not reach the server, so you are still signed in. Try again. means the Customer portal could not reach your service provider's system to end your sign-in, for example because the internet connection dropped. You are still signed in and the page stays where it is, so nobody is misled into thinking the computer is safe to leave.

Check your connection and select Sign out again. Do not walk away from a shared computer until you see the page headed Sign in to see your calls.

Where is Sign out on a phone?

On a phone, or any narrow window, the Customer portal menu is a row of buttons along the bottom of the screen, and Sign out is not among them. Turn the phone sideways: on a screen that is wide enough, the full menu appears down the side, with your name and Sign out at the bottom.

If Sign out still does not appear, there is no other button for it on a phone. On your own phone you can simply stay signed in. On a phone or tablet other people use, sign in in a private (incognito) browser window, which forgets your sign-in when you close it; and if you have already signed in on a shared device you cannot sign out of, ask your service provider to set a new password for you, which signs you out on every device.
